As a North Carolina wedding photography and videography team, we have the privilege of documenting incredible love stories throughout the state, and this wedding at Carolina Grove in Hillsborough, North Carolina reminded us exactly why we love what we do.

A Love Story Years in the Making

Some love stories feel destined from the very beginning.

Although both Chidinma and Jared grew up in neighboring towns in New Jersey, their paths didn't cross until college at Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. Before they ever met in person, Chidinma spotted Jared's hometown while working in the admissions office and called to congratulate him on his acceptance.

What seemed like a routine phone call would ultimately become the first chapter of their story.

Looking back, they describe the moment not as coincidence, but as providence.

Their friendship blossomed throughout Jared's first year at Holy Cross before turning into something more. On May 3, 2014—during Holy Cross's annual Spring Weekend celebration—they danced together under the lights at Kimball Quad, surrounded by friends and the soundtrack of the early 2010s.

That night changed everything.

"It was the culmination of a year's worth of friendship turned romance," they shared. "An unexpected love story had come to fruition."

Why They Chose Carolina Grove for Their North Carolina Wedding

For Jared, North Carolina has always held a special place in his heart.

His family roots run deep here, and many of the people who shaped his life—including his mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and grandfather—rest in North Carolina.

Growing up, he spent summers in the North Carolina countryside fishing, exploring, and visiting family. When it came time to choose a wedding location, Chidinma suggested celebrating "down south" so they could honor those connections and feel close to the family members who had influenced Jared's life.

The choice couldn't have been more perfect.

Nestled among rolling fields and towering trees, Carolina Grove offered exactly what they envisioned: a secluded, intimate setting that felt both elegant and welcoming.

When asked to describe the aesthetic of the day, Chidinma summed it up perfectly:

"Rustic chic."

The barn, open landscape, and countryside setting aligned beautifully with their vision. While their guest list approached 200 people, they wanted the day to feel personal and intentional rather than overwhelming.

Every decision reflected their values.

Their goal wasn't simply to host a beautiful celebration—it was to create a meaningful experience where every guest felt connected to their story.

More than anything, they wanted people to remember the ceremony.

And they certainly did.

The Most Memorable Part of the Day

Without hesitation, both Chidinma and Jared pointed to their vows.

After more than a decade together, exchanging vows represented the culmination of twelve years of friendship, growth, perseverance, faith, and love.

"We poured our hearts into our vows very intentionally," they shared.

It was impossible not to feel the emotion in the room as they reflected on the journey that brought them to that moment.

Another unforgettable highlight came during Jared's ceremony.

As Reverend V closed the ceremony, he recited a Bible verse Jared's mother had spoken over him and his sister every morning before school:

"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."

The moment immediately brought Jared to tears and became one of the most emotional memories of the day.

For Chidinma, her father-daughter dance carried special meaning as well. The dance honored both her father and the Nigerian culture he lovingly passed down to her throughout her life.

A First Dance Filled with Meaning

One of our favorite details from the reception was their first dance song selection.

The couple chose "Lost Without You" by Bebe and Cece Winans.

While many people interpret the song as a traditional love song, Chidinma and Jared connected deeply with its spiritual meaning. To them, the lyrics reflected both their love for one another and their faith.

"We know we're lost without each other and we're lost without God."

It was a beautiful reflection of the foundation they've built together over the last twelve years.

Ending the Night at The Vault

As incredible as the ceremony and reception were, the celebration didn't stop there.

The couple hosted an after-party in The Vault, giving them the opportunity to relax, dance, and celebrate with lifelong friends.

They almost decided against including the after-party during the planning process but ultimately chose to move forward—and they're glad they did.

"It was worth it. We don't regret a thing."

Those extra hours often become some of the most memorable moments of a wedding day, and this celebration was no exception.

Working Together as a Vendor Team

One of the greatest compliments we can receive as wedding photographers and videographers is hearing that our couples felt supported throughout the entire experience.

Chidinma and Jared shared how much they appreciated the collaboration between their vendor team, including wedding planner Elana Walker, House of Willingham, and videographer Chaz Reid.

"We had a ton of moving parts and you all handled it perfectly. What's more, you all were just as intentional in being with us as we had hoped."
